Susquehanna River~
i have been on the mighty Susquehanna
racing with others on canoes
in the heart of the great empire state
and i did swim against her currents- so cooling
after a sweltering hot summer day
smack in the middle of new york's snowbelt
i have studied her curves- from a distance
walking alongside her blue green
forces in a northwestern province
of a more upright choral connecticut
i know she swings her beautiful body
in places of pennsylvania, i have yet
to witness--but i only can imagine
how her brilliance intensifies with the dappling
light coursing through sugar maples
in the autumn of sheer cool graces
a reverence--
all we can ever do
is to sit and admire
how she effortlessly has become
our all the time
forever lover
