earlier darkness pools
sacred time bathes us in messages
dusk holds our confidences-
as we lean in
to a darkening evening
earlier darkness pools
with quieter birds
flowers in garden--moving
towards inevitable death
still black eyed sues
bellow their bright yellow chorus
overshadowing
the last of the orange lilies
enhancing the low blush of begonias
looking grand-
bordered by iris greens
and the beginnings of russet mums
mums being the grand dame
of this garden- soon flashing
tones of cranberry, russet
burnt orange, wine grape
we stroll the perimeter
of the surrounding rich green grass
blissfully barefoot- beads of dew
at dusk stick to our soles and lift
our souls in quiet hymns
providing peace to all
who simply take the time
to stroll between two worlds
the light bright world
of what we purely see
and the dark subdued world
of magic- of sublime mystery
