A memory of climbing Slide Mt., in the Catskills, late 90's
the mountain inspired a day hike-- a walk in the clouds
its prize--after the sweaty climb up the rocky steep incline
what was discovered at the top was thinner air, and a view to frame for postcards sent home to friends
she adjusted her lungs to the thinner air, and set her camera on the ledge
for a panorama view of the surrounding mountains--
the warm air of late summer
a soggy BLT sandwich never tasted so good, washed down with lemon mint iced tea,
the warm air of late summer
a soggy BLT sandwich never tasted so good, washed down with lemon mint iced tea,
the ice now fully melted
on the descent down the mountain she kept uppermost
in her mind-- perspective, persistence, "perpetual change..".
humming an old Yes tune to herself, she sensed her breathing slowly relax--renewing faith in change--and in her self
on the descent down the mountain she kept uppermost
in her mind-- perspective, persistence, "perpetual change..".
humming an old Yes tune to herself, she sensed her breathing slowly relax--renewing faith in change--and in her self
how the mountain climbing reminded her---never to give up in the face of adversity
in believing in one's perspective
never undermines others' perspectives
but simply creates a space to be
more accepting
of the differences in everyone
as if some folks are clouds, some are leaves, and others, pebbles
but simply creates a space to be
more accepting
of the differences in everyone
as if some folks are clouds, some are leaves, and others, pebbles
in the riverbed---at the foot
of the mountain....
no one perspective wins-- we all share the same big blue sky, and walk upon the same
grand green earth
of the mountain....
no one perspective wins-- we all share the same big blue sky, and walk upon the same
grand green earth
