snow loves trees

"I wonder if snow loves the trees..and fields...
It covers them snug, you know, with a white quilt;
and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep darlings,
til the summer comes again." ~Lewis Carrol

while wondering why
snow seems to cling
to whatever it rests upon--

a soft spiraling
of  snow flakes
descends

clinging to magnolia's nooks
and cranies, filling birdbath
break dancing on slabs of blue ice

coating white picket fence,
painting a wicker chair--

moistening my hair

the air now still, free of wind
the peace is  stabbing me alive
with pulsations of positive forward moving

how the snow tends
to block out the extraneous
noise from cars and airplanes,

the train of thoughts
oftentimes getting in the way
of moving at all

how the rhythm gets established
is none of my business-- mid-day
on a monday--presidents' day

how divine to have time
to gaze at the snow and
feeling for awhile the slowing down,

the immense purple crown,
bubbling up through forehead
healing in spirals

from root chakra up
to the multi-petaled lotus, shooting up
like a sunflower in september,

always reminded
of golden warm center--
a heart designed to love
