fluctuations in the weather
the weather changed four times
between morning and evening...
overcast blue grey skies at dawn,
followed by misty citrus clearing
by eleven we were walking on sand clouds
amidst a lapis blue sky, melting into
lake-like waters of green and blue
the warm birthed air of early afternoon
an october light filling in the quiet
spaces of conversations, monet muted
while we would stop to look over
the newly descending tide
walking the path of non resistance
feet drawn into the sugared sand
as if magnets lived just below our feet
sensing the pull of all that
means the world to us, savoring
the layers of swaying: green gold grasses
fuscia beach plums, abandoned tree houses
set deeply in a cloistered thicket
we fall fully
for the beach line that ushers
the perfect moments that later would
paint rainbows and huge pink clouds
whether or not they are visible,
the stars on hold shone as bright
as rubies when sleep became
the resolve of higher beings
knowing the score by heart
orchestrating in dreams
the reasons why one heart
manages to meet another
head on into the wind
streaming into night stars
