speak up, carry your truth

for emma, and  all the children~
sun cascades on snow,
now, almost a memory;
like afternoon butter light-
shifting into kali's night
stars appear to be
not that far away--still
they flicker- fine-tuning
not the wisdom
found on ouiji boards,
or pop psychology,
dished out by PHDs
just the sheer innocence,
experience based,
fueled by the heart....and
articulated with purity--
possibly can be
the grand opening
this nation needs
to destroy bigotry and greed

a bravery I never saw
in my own high school years-
the complacent seventies....
muted, and asleep
let's dig in and get deep,
let's get messy and real
for brighter days ahead, and
nights of peaceful sleep
