clearing the score of a muddied symphony

1) she thought about the differences

she thought about the difference between those
who pray, and remain hopeless,
and others who pray, and receive true miracles--

spilling out of the places
that were once dark and airless,
cabinets needing cleaning,
 become spanking clean

under the high intensity lamp
of paying attention
 filtering the blurry
bitterness of lemons
clearing the score of a muddied
 symphony, written on a sojourn
sealing the agreement to self--

to sit above the cloudy water,
obscured by all those
who would have her sequestered, silenced,
"on holiday" for having

 beliefs, for her faith---
at this low tide moment
in all of human history--

2)pardoning friends
pardoning friends for being quiet,
not returning calls,
she always had
the companionship of flowers,
trees, the wind, and the almighty

keyboard for notes to spiral,
or fox trotted words
to do hand springs
 by the river at dawn
our lives become
 a microscopic miniature version
of a tumbled world ..

.roots of daffodils
 pushing through
the softened forgiving earth,
on a strangely sleepy,
but lovely gingerbread sunday

3) late afternoon driving home
late afternoon driving home
and still
a pillar of blue in the sky-
to the north- brave bluebirds
shooting their wings up---
 beyond the tallest oak
their song echoing--

underneath
 what's left
of a pristine snow

4 ) so this is how checker board tablecloths cover~
so this is how checker board
tablecloths cover old
  maple tables, and do
 reveal a special meal-
--made more fanciful
with the simple
 orange, blue, and cream
peruvian ceramic bowls,
 black and gold soft cotton
napkins from provence--

purveying thai
  curried noodles nestled
in a pool of spring green
close to the time
 the sky would turn black--
as soon as she would turn
her back on the changing,

how the sky gets encoded--
with studded earrings
of tiger eye and citrine
