impatience inspires song

"All things shall melt and turn into songs
when spring comes." ~Kahil Gibran

she did not wish to wait
for the springing green
in the distant hills, home
to hundreds of beech & pine

her song, buried somewhere
in her throat- stunted by
the practical- the promise
of honest working days

perhaps if she sang off-key
with all the heart of a benedictine
choir- her song would catch fire
would smooth the uncertainty

and she'd be singing on key
for all eternity- not needing
to wait for the softest green spring
and how those treed hills could sing!
