'no ideas but in things' ~for william carlos williams

that red wheelbarrow is filling up
with the rain that has not stopped
falling- since the first of may

i am thinking of you with a blurry
adoration- and wondering
how your world of medicine, mysticism,

and absolute love for family & nature
could work so seamlessly- how the books
on your shelves in that sumptuous study

with hints of gold and red could hold
your attention as you wrote poems
of both the deepness and the lightness of things

how your words spill out
of my new directions paperback,
'selected poems' i keep bedside---
next to edna, denise, pablo, w.s.

surrounded by healing stones
which serve to resonate
the greatness of the simple
