Summer Solstice at the Center for Natural Healing..
Dear Old and New friends,
As we draw closer to the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere,
the summer solstice, I thought it would be a fine time to introduce myself,
and my Center for Natural Healing.
Summer Solstice is a wonderful time to celebrate all we love about summer, that is true! A greater number of hours of sunlight bring us outdoors ...to enjoy beach, forest, swimming, sailing, gardening, hiking, birding, and just plain lazing around on our hammocks(with a good book perhaps!). Some of us gravitate to a pagan form of worship...dating back centuries: banging the drum, calling in the four directions, affirming summer's peak of light...while empowering each person to realize the height of light/inner joy/ within.
Here at the Center for Natural Healing (CNH) we'll be having a celebration to "bring on the height of light".
In ancient acupuncture, each season is paired with a set of meridians. Summer is paired with the heart/small intestine.. and its element is fire. So fires are burned, in candle light and bon fires at the beach. The element fire corresponds to the emotion, love. It is no wonder that June is considered the time for love and for
lovers. The colors represented are all shades of pink and red. Joy, Love, hearts beating, fires burning...
the stuff of poetry, song and celebration!!
If you don't have a group in which to celebrate, why not observe quietly this special time? Light some candles, say a prayer, affirming all that is light, bright, loving within you and in the world.
Include all those you love, and especially family members/friends who are going through challenging times. It's challenging now to live on the planet. Any effort of pure positive intention becomes healing to both the world, and to ourselves.
Now, a little bit about me. I have been facilitating healing since 1987, when I graduated from the Swedish Institute of New York. I lived in a beautiful rural spot-- smack in the middle of New York State, Wells Bridge for the first two years after I graduated. Then I moved back to Long Island, near Stony Brook (where I went to college--BA- 1982).
I have been running the Center for Natural Healing, on Long Island, since 1991. We offer therapeutic massage, deep tissue, shiatsu, reiki, polarity, reflexology, aromatherapy, one on one yoga, music/poetry gatherings, and pot luck celebrations.
For the last five years, I have been intensely focused on writing poetry.
From 2010-2014, I wrote a poem a day. That is a lot of poems.
I have decided to put together a book of poems, 'Informed by water'
I have always lived near the water.
(even in Wells Bridge...there was a stream that ran behind our house).
I will be posting less here, to devote time and energy towards completing my book.
If you would like to write to me, kindly email: healerkate77@gmail.com
In the meantime, may you all have a wonderful Summer Solstice...whatever you do...
Let your heart be happy and light!
Love light healing,
Kate
