after readng edna st. vincent millay~ 'after the rain'

'the dance' by matisse
rain has thrust her forceful
pellets into the thirsty ground
flowers earth and stone
awake refreshed
such pillars of beauty
before our eyes have grown
birds share there shall be sun
to brighten, warm and bless
all the sodden soil, shrubs
weighted with heaviness
and lift all beings with--
such palpable re-cognition--
beyond what we call earth
to swirl and dance in karmic mirth
